When you get ready to come dig you'll have lots of QUESTIONS , so please check out the new QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS page before emailing or calling.   New !  Please sign the guest book located at the bottom of this page.    DMC dig DEC.02 , 2006 @ Jackson's crossroads amethyst mine .  This dig is only $15 to members of a federation recognised rock/gem club. Yes , we will have the hole dry and anyone with a hardhat can try their luck in the hole . I will most likely have a machine out their either there on site or just before  the 2cnd , so there will be fresh dirt .  We will have a pit smoker brought out there & Big'uns bbq will be selling plates  and we'll  also have  the oven and woodburning stove going. November 11th will be an open dig at the Cunningham mine .   Feel free to just show up at the gate at 9 a.m. for admission.    Don't be late , because no one admitted after 9:15 and the gates will be locked back.  This will be $25 to dig in the Beryl pit and also the back amethyst pit if I am not working back there.      If It does work out that I do some digging out there , it'll be an addition $15 to work the tailings piles provided that I have the machine running.  I'll have new items  on ebay in my store by late Monday ~  You can visit my ebay store and you'll see this one if it has been snapped up , just click hereNovember 18th I will set up a sales table at the federation dig at RUCK'S PIT  in Fort Drum , Florida , where the fossil clams with Calcite are  found. I have updated the thanksgiving dig for quartz crystals with additional information . I will be sending a monsterous machine out to JXR very soon .  This machine will be the biggest yet  , weighing in at 103,000 pounds of pure  power.   These heavy machines have a tremendous reach , 35 foot ! The earhtmoving capaplities of a machine like this are staggering .  And of course , when this behemoth grabs a rock and pulls , well , said rock is fixing to undergo an uprising ! The weather is super nice and i will be having a dig at jxr soon , and this will be one you will not want to miss.      I'll be going to Arkansas the day after Thanksgiving.   I have already placed the order to have a huge machine delivered to the mine near Coleman's .  The mine is approx. 6 miles away from Jessievill on hwy 7.  Anyone that wants to go out there , it'll be $100 to go thru the tailings piles.  We'll be going after mossy green chlorite phantom included quartz.my_new_mine.jpg  These are poor pictures of a great specimen.  The green mossy chlorite is deep within the crystal and I cant get the camera to focus ( in a hurry ) on it .  So far , no one has expressed an interest in going out there that weekend  , which means if only one or two folks do respond , they'll have the piles all to themselves.   I may have a dig this weekend and will announce the location later today.     Look for a fieldtrip report detailing this weekends dig coming soon.   Stay tuned for the next dig coming up soon (To Be Announced ~  Keep checking back) Click this link to see GIRLS GONE WILD AT JxR  !   If your interested in a trip to Arkansas , please email me !Collecting is very good at jxr and the hole is dry .  The fee this week is $50 a person , but this includes being able to go into the hole .Look for the past weekend's Hogg mine report to come soon.  Everyone went away from this dig with big high quality deep blue aquamarines as well as superb gemmy star rose quartz.  My premium rock digs are the cats meow ! Isn't it about time you started living life to the fullest ?  Take a step up , with DIXIE U ! 's premium rock digs , just call 404-975-8005 to schedule a trip .Before you call me please read the questions and answers page and have your mind made up.elongata.jpgI have placed a very unusuall crystal on ebay , a stone temple smoky with an easy to see water bubble ! The pictures are really hard to believe. Using Vendio hosting the pictures are huge and shows the bubble doing tricks . Check it out by clicking HERE . I have added twenty new items in my store & every one of them start out at just one dollar , so be sure to click the link to view my other items.   Check back here later for breaking news on the hogg mine ROCKTOBERFEST dig now in progress !  I have a confirmed date of October 28 for another  machine dig at the Cunningham mine~ $40 for the day  .  There has been a lot of rain yesterday & today at Jackson's Crossroads amethyst mine , so collecting  should be excellant with all the digging that has been going on.  The fee this week is $50 a person , but this includes being able to go into the hole . Just a reminder that you only live once . You may as well go first class , with Dixie U ! premium digs . With big powerful machinery , onsite port-a-potties at most sites , this is premium rock digging at it’s finest . At JXR we offer a port-a-potty for the ladies , a shelter to guard against wind and rain , a pot belly stove to keep warm , and even a real cook stove/oven for coffee ! Dec. 2 will be the DMC fieldtrip to JXR . I am discounting that day to only $15 for the DMC dig . If you are a member of a rock club ( an officially sanctioned club such as sfms or amfs  members) then you will qualify to attend for that rate . We will have a bbq company out to cater the event ,  even with a smoke pit cooker to cook the food on site . Further , we will be using the stove to cook fudge brownies & chocolate chip cookies on site !  Coming soon ! :   Smokerise rockshop in Georgia , plus , an all new "old" South Carolina amethyst location ,  new North Carolina properties and more ~  stay tuned for future announcements.   We all know that fee mines rock !  Big machine dig at the Hogg mine !  $125 to attend with the monster machine running.   We'll be getting lots of gem quality star rose quartz , big blue aquamarine and more.    coming up October 28 , a return to the Cunningham mine for more of those cool skeletal smoky amethyst !   Keep checking back to see whats hot --- and NOT !   Dig at the Cunningham was a big success with some awesome big smokies found , pix coming soon.   Dig at jxr went well , here is the video( click center  start button to play video ) New video  by Jim Olson that shows the start to finish process of finding a  amethyst crystal gemstone at jackson's crossroads , cutting a stone ,setting the stone into a pendent .  This is a 5 minute video and is not recommended for dial-up or slow connections . CLICK HERE to see the video . I have put an excellant example  of facet rough JXR georgia blue amethyst up for bid on ebay . CLICK HERE to visit my ebay store. This piece was found Sunday , October 8 around 3 p.m. and was dug by Read Miner  ( thanks Read for your help in the pouring rain ! ) . 2xinsane.jpgI am starting the bidding out on it at only a dollar . It has a reserve price but that is not set very high . NEWSFLASH ! ! !    I may be having a  monster machine dig in Arkansas thanksgiving weekend  since a lot of folks do not have to work the friday after thanksgiving and have a extra long weekend.  The actual dig will be on Saturday , November 25 . Click here for average hot springs arkansas weather for november . Mark your calendars and stay tuned to Dixie U  for the latest breaking news !  About this last weekends Jackson's Crossroads amethyst dig :   I'll pix up soon of what the diggers found .  Saturday I hit a major pocket and a reknown mineral dealer was on hand and bought the pocket contents as soon as the pocket was breached ~ and before I could even get the crystals up out of the hole .   Sunday I hit an incredible pocket in the front part of the pit near the green shed that had rosettes on druse .   4 major specimens were produced Sunday , and these are now for sale . These are unique one of a kind museum specimens.  This area had produced two unique specimens two years ago , so after some additional digging , a huge hollow vug was encountered.  The vug had a fractured "rind" of druse  covered vug lining .  This greatly facilitates the safe and damage free removal of druse lined plates covered with gemmy rosettes of amethyst !   I have all kinds of good stuff for sale on ebay .  The pictures below can be viewed by clicking twice to freeze and expand them

Who knows , you might catch someone napping and get a crytsal valued at hundreds of dollars for just a buck or two !    This just in from Katie Gilbert of Indigo Films , RE : Cash & Treasures show featuring Jackson's Crossroads ~we do not have specific stories assigned to specific airdates yet. the network does this at the last minute. the series however launches on tues, dec. 5th in prime time (check your local listings). the show will air weekly, every tues night.thanks, katie Breaking news !   A relevation about the feldspar from the Cunningham mine from Marcy :  Ok, do you remember the specimen-grade "faceted" chunk of white that Amos pulled out of the aquamarine seam (I believe that it is feldspar--I'm an amateur , so I could be wrong)? Well, Robert pulled a smaller yet still nicely "faceted" piece out of the dump pile and gave it to me--he said that it might fluoresce. Rodney, I love fluorescent minerals, and have specimens from Iceland, Franklin, et cetera. This piece that Robert gave me--it's THE BOMB! Under one wave it glows deep purple, and deep magenta under the other--and my light small and weak. Check it out if you have a piece. What's so great about it is that the color is so even--most red/purple stuff is all mottled with inclusions et cetera. This is perfect b/c it's series of clean white planes. I'm not using the proper terminology, of course. So YES! it fluoresces. Far as I'm concerned, THAT is the find at that mine.    Best,  Marcy . ( editors note : marcy refers to a CRYSTAL  with natural facets or sides .)      Click on a picture to freez and expand it :
Cool Slideshows
The dig at the cunningham mine went very well , with 18 people out to dig .  Romin hit  a nice green beryl in matrix ..............it was completely gemmy flawless facet grade from one end to the other .  . Peter Harkelli's son found a big blue beryl crystal .  Helen Nicholson found an intense green beryl crystal that was emerald green in color.   Carl Rogers found a killer amethyst in the back pit .   Best of all , every single person there found several pieces of beryl .    If you went , please email me pictures for this page.

Had a good time on Saturday, July 15. Thanks to my fellow collectors for all the help as this was my first visit. Rodney kept busy bringing up fresh material every few minutes for us to dig through. Lunch and ice cream were very good. Good move to stay after the late afternoon rain shower.

Rodney As always, it was fun and hot. Then, to top it off, Marie passes out cups of homemade ice cream out in the middle of nowhere. What other mine owner around would have such a thing. keep up the great work. If you have never been to JXR be prepared to work. I hear people complain about not finding anything. They do not work hard to find material that is there. Thanks

Dear Rodney, We had a great time at jxr, stone temple, and diamond hill. We each found some things we were pleased with. We had stone temple all to ourselves, but met so many nice people at the others! Sorry we couldn't do the machine dig, but look forward to that in the future. Thanks for everything! We visited the JXR site a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. The potential for finding good quality amethysts is lying all around. I swung a big sludge hammer all day and was really tired at the end of the day. I was not too tired to clean up the findings however. We had a great time, and found alot of amethysts. the findings were great the first day but yeilded the quality gems on the second. ...(trimmed)
