Breaking News for Jackson's Crossroads Amethyst crystal pay to dig fee mine , Hogg Mine star rose quartz, tourmaline , Aquamarine , and the Lagrange Clear Crystal mine ( all in Georgia ) and the Diamond Hill quartz prospect in Antreville , South Carolina , updated November  28 morning edition     . Wondering where to dig for crystals ? We have just the thing !  First time visitors are encouraged to add this webpage  ( bookmark ) to your favorites for fast access to the latest scoops on notable producing locales– ones where YOU , for a low fee , can go dig and collect nice crystals and minerals. Also , after  browsing the rest of my homemade website visit the slick commercial version www.dixieeuhedrals.net for streaming video of monster machine digs , a photo gallery and more.Be sure to hit your " refresh" button to see the most recent changes as I update frequently. Here comes the rain ! And with the rain , maybe some amethyst crystals washed up at jxr . Or , aquamarine at the Hogg. Definitely crystals at the lagrange site will be everywhere on the surface , and at Diamond Hill too - maybe even amethyst or a bright and shiny smoky ! Call 404-975-8005 to book a trip today . Don't forget , Monster machine dig at Jackson's crossroads this Saturday - $100 a person and this should be an extremely good dig .  Look for a all new page for breaking news , late this afternoon .  I will make a whole new page some time tomorrow afternoon.  Usually after about a month , this page gets jammed up with a lot of pictures that makes the page slow to load . Trouble is , usually I really like the pictures and want to leave tehm up for everyone to see . So , I just archive the page and start anew.   Trouble with that is , I need new pictures to make the new page interesting . Read Miner is sending in pictures of his display case , Tim Billingsley is sending in a picture of the good amethyst he found friday , and maybe some other folks that were out there this Friday and Saturday will send in some pictures . Look for a whole new page of breaking news some time tomorrow and most likely late in the day .  Be sure to hit your refresh button at the end of the day so that you'll catch the latest version as I will most likely revise it several times as pictures come in .   Diamond hill is reported to have the pits flooded with more rain on the way .  Jorie and Tim Billingsley reported that as of yesterday ( Saturday , November 26 ) that thought the pits were flooded they still hit a good area of smokey crystals .  I may see about going up there and pumping out the water . As most of you know  , I had my industrial water pump stolen out at JXR . I will probably go buy another one this week for $650 . I will be griping and complaining about this for a whole month .  I feel sorry for the next person that asks me for a discount , I am gonna let them have it about having to spend $600 bucks for a pump and the how the man at Northern Tool won't give me a discount on the SECOND $600 pump that I am buying from them ! As WEBMASTER for this site , I can go into the adminstrative areas and see how many visitors per day visit the site , and if they clicked on a link on a website or arrived by virtue of a search engine .  Not only that , I can see what terms they used to search and arrive on my website.  Some times this is funny , like the guy looking fro bar-b-que , and over the last year , I have seen some peculiar and bizarre search terms . On an average day I have 68 visitors , a slow day 39 , and a busy day this month saw 150 different visitors . Here is what terms folks have used over the last month

Read Miner has e-mailed to say that he will be setting up a display case of JXR amethyst crystals at the Columbia Gem & Mineral show : The Columbia Gem & Mineral Show is Friday November 25, 2005 10AM until 7PM, Saturday November 26, 2005 10AM until 6PM, Sunday November 27, 2005 12 noon until 5 PM at the SC State Fairgrounds, Moore Building, Columbia, SC I have spent the better part of the day listing items on ebay , like these killer 6 mm faceted JXR amethyst light_and_lively.jpg
You might get these for just a few dollars if your lucky . I know that big amethyst crystal auction ends tomorrow . This big thousand dollar crystal is only bid up to $200 as of right now . Check these items out plus payson diamonds, fossil clams and  lots more at this link : www.stores.ebay.com/dixieeuhedrals  I will be having a dig this weekend at jxr friday November 25 , holler at me if you want to come out ( phone 404-975-8005 ) $25 to dig in the front  $50 to dig in the back  . I will have a machine dig coming up next week with the big machine saturday December 03 .  This will be on the joint Ledford-Moore tract that is immediately North of my jxr Holdings . This tract has been off limits to collectors for some time now . The big machine will run all week and on Saturday we will let folks in for the day at $100 a person while that big machine runs . Limited availability  and this is pretty much limited to folks that we know and have dug with us without problem or incident in the past  .   I may be moving a big cat 320 out to the site semi-permanently . And of course , I am always working on developing and opening up new sites  plus lots of other projects as well.  Keep checking back as I update frequently . I may even update this site again later tonight , so be sure to hit your " refresh " button to reveal the latest version of this page . Lots of new amethyst in my ebay store , including a freshly dug matrix piece from a new area of the mine . Just look for one of the links below .I will be running equipment at jxr this friday . The fee to attend is $25 to access the tailings piles in the front and I will be moving dirt for about 3 hours. Any one that wants to enter the back part where I will be digging for amethyst  and have access to the tailings where the machine is working will be an additional $25 . Thomas and Steve Davis  visited the Hogg  Mine this past Friday . Thomas hit his self in the hand with a hammer or either the rock jumped and hit him. Steve found a very nice piece of aquamarine .  I offered him $200 for it but he says he is going to cut a stone for his wife .A while back , Ron and Nancey Seaver decided to start back mineral collecting after a 30 year break . On the first trip in 3 decades , the each paid $25  bucks to visit JXR . Nancey found a killer crystal . Months have went by . Nancey came back out to visit and she was wearing a 58 carat amethyst that she had cut out of her crystal . The jeweler appraised it at $1800.00 but this is just based on $30 carat standard top gem amethyst . It's actuall value on the open market is estimated at $5000.00  Here is a picture of nancy's stone :JXR It has pronounced " Blue Flash " as seen in this true color un-altered photo. In other news , a peculiar thing : since the neighboring so called " purple haze mine " has opened , I decided to do a google search  for " purple haze mine amethyst " to see what information is out there in cyberspace . I was amazed at the numerous links ! But , uh , this was very confusing since they all led to a  amethyst mine by the same name in Canada .
WEEZER.jpg I DO  have something to amuse you with : The Great Georgia Barite Controversy ( click the following link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6580525785 )I had a good visit at the Cobb County Civic Center. This is a huge show with lots of good minerals . The Corrigan Collection Display looked great . I took some pictures but they are not the best ( poor lighting in the civic center ) . Here's a long shot of the caseCorrigan_collection.JPG I wish my pictures had turned out better . The back center matrix piece is stunning ! Snow white carpet of clear needle quartz with a rosette of ultra gemmy amethyst crystals.  It took my breath away as  it was the first time for me to see it after being cleaned. It came out of a one-of-a-kind huge hollow cavity that was coated with a very thick managanese coating .  The last time I saw this it was on my kitchen floor and was totally black . Here is a closer shot of it. This is a poor picture of an exceptionall cluster :Baby_GRAND.JPGHere's another murky picture ! My camera just didn't like the civic centers lights . This is a close up of the cut stone display .  With a great range of color ranging from the slightest hint  and grading to almost opaque purple and possessing awesome color and ultimate clarity is the JXR trademark :jewls.JPGMike set this display up and I'd like to thank him for his time , it's a long drive from macon to the North side of ATL . Be sure to pass a link to any of your friends that might be interested in todays contents . Hitting_the_big_time.jpg I am pleased to make the following announcement :The smash hit article titled : "The Jackson’s Crossroads Amethyst Deposit" , written by Ryan Bowling , Rodney Moore and Terry Ledford , appears in the 2005 November - December issue of the Mineralogical Record magazine. The Record , sometimes shortened to "The MinRec" or just "The Record", is a magazine well known for it’s extra thick glossy pages and expert color photography . Sporting a news stand cover price of $15 per bi-monthly issue , it is money well spent for it’s strict rigid format of describing new mineral finds or old finds revisited with beautiful color photography through-out. The record is the Holy Grail of mineral collectors and is sometime called the Collectors Bible as it is the final and ultimate word on a mineral collecting locality and specimens obtained from said locality. The Jackson’s Crossroads issue follows the same rigid set rules mandated for all articles that appear in this hallowed tome . Here is the structure for the article :1.) Introduction2.) History of locality3.)Collecting ( includes locality map and incredible professional photos !) 4.)Geology5. ) Conclusions . Anyone that has spent time collecting at this locality will no doubt want a copy for it’s amazing specimen photography , mostly by Jeff Scovil . For those of you who have yet to visit the site, it will be mighty hard to resist after reading this article .This magazine is truly a work of art and is the supreme and final authority on minerals and mineral collecting localities . It is unsurpassed for it’s heavy weight paper and glossy close-up photography . It has been an inspiration to me and before I set out on my own grand journey into specimen mining , I read the Record for years and gleaned as much as I could on the subject. Obviously , I learned a lot before the onset ! For those of you that have any interest at all in the Jackson’s Crossroads Amethyst site : YOU NEED THIS ISSUE .And for those of you that do not subscribe : You are really missing out !Issues available through this e-Bay store for $18.85 postage paid  at this link :http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6988742980&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1The MinRec article is 6 pages with color photos on every page except the Intro page. specimens_collected_by_RODNEY.jpg  Here's the killer double term amethyst from the Vertical Tube pocket # 2  offered for sale on ebay at this link : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6579297317&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 This is a super nice specimen ! shocking_but_true.JPGI will probably be out at jxr Tuesday running a machine and doing work . Any one wanting to come hang out and dig , the fee for that day is $50 . Most likey there will only be a person or two out there so this would be a great chance to have big fresh piles to your self.  Limited availablity offer . Inquire .   I_KNOW_WHAT_YOU_DID_LAST_SUMMER.jpgRead Miner and David Blount dug at jxr the last two days in the hole I opened up .I added the above picture courtesy of Read Miner of Columbia, S.C. , who dug this nice crystal Saturday , NOV. 12 . They report finding amethyst crystals , some a very deep purple and a clear one FOUR INCHES in diameter ! On the other end of the state , diggers report great success at the Lagrange clear crystal mine .  J. Don Aldridge sends in the following picture of a big beryl crystal that weighs over 5 pounds and has gemmy faceteable areas . This was found by Marie Aldridge , who has a unique style of working the dump piles ( Just ask Don about that ! ) .This large crystal was found in the front dump piles just past the port -a -potty . The Hogg mine has fabulous treasures just waiting on folks willing to pay the fee and work . There sure has not been many folks to visit the place in the last 3 weeks.  Crystal proudly displayed by young " Dalton "  , a budding  rockhound in this picture supplied by Don. Dalton_with_Beryl.JPG That's one real big aquamarine there !  This weekend was a big success on all fronts , from the Alabama border to the South Carolina border , producing gemmy amethyst at jxr , Gemmy aqua at the Hogg , and many hundreds of fine quartz crystals at the lagrange Clear Crystal mine . If your willing to do some work and got a few ( Measley ) dollars to spare , I can hook you up with good old fashion spine-tingleing , heart pounding gemstone digging  event!  Here's one of the emails I got in regards to Friday's dig , from Dawn . I think this was her very first collecting trip :Hi!

IDon't hesitate to call me at 404-975-8005 to line up a visit !
Just the regular reminder that every few days I put new items in my ebay store ( click link : www.stores.ebay.com/dixieeuhedrals )  like the 3 jxr crystals below , two of which are nice gemmy facet grade , with a starting bid of only ten lousy bucks ! 3jxr.jpg One of the guys --- Jim Olson -- that visited JXR   a couple of weeks ago sent in this picture of a guitar pick that he made out of one of the amethyst crystals he foundamypick.JPG Here's a excerpt of Jim's email to me :Greetings! I have attached a picture of one of my handmade gemstone guitar picks. Normally I make these out of dinosaur bone or mammoth ivory. Last week on the JXR site I found several fine specimens including one light purple crystal that was big enough to cut 2 standard size guitar picks from!  My gemstone picks are fully functional, not just art work. This one is a rare bird -- Jim Olson Jim's website here : www.myrddinscave.com           Just a brief report on Saturday's , November 5 machine dig in Lagrange . This was the best dig out there to date . I found several extremely large foot long 4" in diameter crystals . double_handfull.JPGI also gave each digger a five gallon bucket slap full of crystals ! Here's one of teh fifty or so coke can sized crystals that was found . I made sure all the diggers that visited got a few of these. Note that in addition to red clay that there is adhereing white clay and black manganese from the pocketbigger_than_the_can.JPG Here's  a closeup of the wall , showing a pocket with  quartz crystals peeking out :in_situ.JPG  Pictures provided by J. Don Aldridge ( thanks ,Don ! ).  Always new things on ebay Check it out here : www.stores.ebay.com/dixieeuhedrals    If you think this website is interesting , please pass a link along to your friends ! Most users can just right click over this sentence and then select " send a link to this page ". Folks running older versions of windows will just have to tell their friends to check out the breaking news page on www.dixieeuhedrals.com   .       I met up with Don Brockway today and he brought the Diamond Hill Smoky quartz crystals out today .  They are superb ! I took some quick pictures . Here's a brilliantly face smokey quartz crystal cluster that occurs as a secondary overgrowth over amethyst !Smokey_overgrowth_over_amethyst.JPGWhen Don first pulled these out ,I just had to say " WOW ! ".  Upoun examineing another specimen , we see an area that is devoid of iron staining . The area without stain has a very lustrous bright shiney face . it begs the question : what will the portion under the staining be - shiney or frosted / etched ? My geuss ? I'm betting on shiny .IRON_STAINED_CLUSTER.JPG  Just a reminder that at JXR  Lots of big boulders ripe and pregnant with druse lined cavities...........and maybe .........AMETHYST ! - abound on the surface. How hard can you swing a hammer ?  For just $25 lousy bucks you can visit JXR and try your luck ! With gas prices dropping and fall in the air , theres no better time for rockhounding .   Just call me at 404-975-8005 and I will hook you up with any of the  hot properties on the menu Diamond Hill , Hogg Mine , Lagrange quartz crystal, Jackson's Crossroads  !  on_news_stands_now.JPGBe sure to check out the latest issue of Rock and Gem magazine ( December 2005 )  as it contains a good four page article on Jackson's crossroads amethyst  , with nice pictures . While just now appearing in print , it was actually written and submitted over a year and a half ago . It tells how I first brought in the oversized trackhoe  before I had purchased the property .  I have listed all kinds of nice material on ebay , click the link and have a look : www.stores.ebay.com/dixieeuhedrals
